Super Silas is a big 8 year old today! What sweetness came into our lives on November 2, 2001. He shares this birthday with his Great Grandma Carlomagno who was such an amazing woman (passed at the ripe-ol'-age of 96...my Daddy's Ma). Silas joined us with tiny little squeals and such simplicity and we've watched him grow into such a caring and fun little dude. He is such a love-bug, full of snuggles and gentle kisses which are consistent reminders to me of the simple and pure love of a child that the Father asks me to come to Him with.
Silas loves the simple things of life as well. He is very creative and artistic and definitely sees the world through the eyes of a right-brainer. Lately, babies are the subject of choice in his drawings. Babies in tummies, babies in arms, babies and big brothers...babies!!! He is delighted at the thought of being a big brother and has decided that this baby is his best gift ever.
Si-guy is also our "shy-guy." He is not one to jump into conversation with someone he doesn't know, but once that barrier gets broken, you will be a treasured friend and you will probably be the recipient of many drawings covered with loving sentiments.
On a personal note, Silas has been our youngest for the past 8 years. When we started the adoption process in 2005 he was ecstatic at the idea of having a little one in the house to love and guide. That dream is taking so much longer than anticipated, but we know that God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called with purpose! (Silas...you have been called forth with purpose, before you were even born!) This will be a big year for Silas James Holbrook who's dream of being a big brother is unfolding before his eyes. He is amazed at this process (pregnancy) and has so many wonderful questions and ideas about how all of this works. He is going to be a wonderful big brother come June, 2010!
Happy 8th birthday to our Super Silas! May the Lord bless you graciously, leading You into His faithful plan and promises for your life. You are our little sunshine and we are so blessed to call you son!

YUP! That's "our" Silas!!! Grampa says his smile is infectious and just lights up any room he goes into. The astronaut look was pretty awesome, too! The suit fits him well -- space cadet #1 -- who knows where God will lead him with all the things that are ahead of him? May his curiosity never waver and in his seeking may he always find the true Source of all answers to life -- the Lord Jesus!
We love YOU, Mr. Si, and hope to see you soon. Glad you got what you wanted for your "BIG DAY", grandson, and we know you'll find the perfect place to spend all that loot!
Hugs from here to our special birthday boy,
Grampa and Gramma
