Extreme Gingerbread Home Makeover!

The kids and I were in hysterics this afternoon. I mean, seriously, how hard can it be? We bought the "Gingerbread House with Tree" kit at Costco a few weeks ago and decided that today was as good as any to have a go at it. It started off pretty well...we put the icing on the front and back, stuck them to the sides, attached the roof, put the tree together. Everything was going just fine...until...we started to decorate. Mind you, it wasn't until after mayhem started to take place that I read at the very bottom of the box, "Allow icing to dry 2-3 hours prior to decorating." Oh, that's just lovely. So as we're plastering this thing with gumdrops and candy doo-dads it's all just caving in on itself and we were honestly, having the most hilarious time with it all. Benjamin decided that we should do an Extreme Gingerbread Home Makeover show with it and demo it on video. That's to come! I told them that we can't destroy it until Dad sees it.
"On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...a gingerbread house as funky as it could be!"

1 hour later - on second thought, maybe Daddy won't get to see the finished work :0)

YIKES!!! They make it look so easy on the Food Channel; ya gotta start somewhere, though, and we can hear you laughing all the way over here -- an hour's drive from your home!!!

It looked good there for a few pixs. The hurricane must have hit and WOW what a mess! Enjoy, boys! And...keep laughing!

Hugs all round!

WOW... extreme makeover is RIGHT! Well, at least ya'll had fun with it, and it gave you a good laugh. :0) I remember our boys doing this together a few years back, and there was hardly any candy left to put ON the house... so look at the bright side... at least the candy made it on the house long enough to get a few good pics.

See you tomorrow. :0)
