Well, it's that time of year again. We made our annual trek up to "Apple Hill" (Blueberry Hill this time of year) with Grandma (my Mama) and had a fabulous time picking and enjoying the memories my mother had of living in Maine and gathering blueberries with my grandmother (her mother). Needless to say, the bushes were bursting with goodness and we picked over 5 pounds. I know, it sounds like we must have picked for hours, but I can't even tell you how loaded these bushes were. It only took us about 40 minutes!
Then we went and enjoyed lunch together and spent some time back at the house and loved-up on Grandpa. Just love these two. Check out the most amazing picture of my mama in the rows of blueberries! I think this is my most favorite picture of her, ever. She is so precious to me. I took the snap of Caleb and Grandpa hanging out on the deck as they discussed the scientific names of the animals of the High Sierra's. They are two peas-in-a-pod and it thrills my heart to see the connection between these two. On the way home Caleb expressed, "I love the knowledge in Grandpa's head!" It was a totally random comment, but it spoke volumes to me. These two have a really neat relationship and their love for creation is a wonderful bond between them.
So, now I'm home (washing blueberries) and packing for the big day! Hugs to y'all...and Tami G. ...if you read this... we left a few for you and your gang :0)
Toodles!

Wowwwww... can't wait to get up there tomorrow!! They look beautiful!!!
I'm glad you had a good day.... sad that we weren't there, but there's reason for everything, isn't there? Sounds like you had great fellowship with your parents. That's precious, and something that might have been different if my gang was there.
We'll have to share blueberry stories in person when you return from your trip.
Love you, Gi.
Ah, YES!!! What a fun time we all had on "Blueberry Hill" and Benjamin found the most awesome, untouched blueberry rows -- it was like going into the Promised Land and grabbing a handful of grapes! Each berry on each cluster was RIPE! Amazing and we haven't seen that kind of picking for a few years. So glad we made it before their Blueberry Festival today, Sunday. Those berries are going to be torn up tomorrow and we were even told that the owners give the plants two days to recuperate from the masses of people who show up for the festival -- and we're talking 1,000's!!! Our day was PERFECT!!!
Good job boys! We did good!
And, as usual, it was WONDERFUL sharing some time with our Holbrooks -- missed you Brian! You would have enjoyed the ease of picking this year. Remember last year? We couldn't even find a cluster of berries and had to do with one here and one there and not even cover the bottom of a bucket! NOT this year though!
FUN FUN FUN!!!
Enjoy your Burney days, family! We eagerly await the 4th now and thank God we can celebrate 40 years! It's His gift, for sure and we love Him all the more for it. It will be an added blessing to be with the whole family up there again -- numbering 15 now! Lordy! Look what we've done!
Still waiting for our darling Sarah Grace, though! 16's a good number!
Love you all!
