Our Precious Promise

I am dedicating this entry to our precious promise in China, our daughter. We are blessed to be on such a journey of faith. When we started our adoption in 2006, we had no idea that what was taking a mere 12 months at the time, would turn into an amazing surrender of our hopes and dreams with no end to our wait in sight. Ya know, when God plants something in your heart, you had better believe it will not turn out the way you expect it to. God's ways are simply not ours...but they are definitely and without a doubt, better! I think about all of the stories in scripture where there was a waiting period....every single one of them actually! Learning to wait is a critical part of our walk with the Lord. How long did the Israelites wait for their King? How long did Abraham and Sarah wait for the promise of a child (and Sarah even thought she could manipulate God's sovereign plan to get what she wanted)? How long did Jacob wait for his wife?God wants to teach us about His character through the waiting. He wants to teach us how desperate we are for Himself. He wants us to totally depend on Him. He knows exactly what we need!

Our precious daughter. We wrote some time ago that we would wait until kingdom come for you and we will never let go of that promise. God will show us what His plans are, and though the dream of holding you seems so unreachable at times, we know He has already gone before us and is preparing our hearts for you. We hold you tightly in our prayers this Christmas and we wait with joyful hope for the fulfillment of the Father's promise...you!
