Benny Ratatouille

A quick rundown of the Labor Day weekend here. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were spent with the Paradas at a beautiful home on Meek's Bay (West Shore) of Lake Tahoe. They have long-time friends who own this beauty and we were lucky enough to share in the blessing. We felt so spoiled by the Lord. Caleb had a wild incident happen to him while we trekked out to the island at Emerald Bay. As we anchored, a ferocious (and I mean ferocious) wind came up and the middle section of the windshield slammed shut...on top of Caleb's head. It was initially horrifying. Glass shattered everywhere, all over Caleb. After the realization that he was standing in about an inch of shattered glass, Daddy went into "Daddy-mode" and scooped him up onto my lap. It was a miracle that he only suffered some cuts to his back and calves...and that there was no glass in his head. God's protection! While the daddy's cleaned up the boat, the mommies were privileged to enjoy some beach time at Emerald Bay with the kiddos - jumping off of docks, catching crayfish under the dock and having fun! Our time in Tahoe was a delight and we met some new acquaintances through Rick and Shelly who we really enjoyed. The kids fell in love with their Boston Terrier.

Now, the biggy for Benjamin was a planned experience for him at Charlie Palmer's in Reno...as a line chef! He and Daddy spent a few hours with David Holman, the executive chef at the restaurant and had a total blast. Benjamin got to witness first-hand what happens in a "real" kitchen...a five star kitchen no less. This truly was a personal snuggle from the Father who knows how much our Ben loves to cook and create in the kitchen. It fanned the flame and we trust that God will use it to bring forth His plans for Benjamin...even if he doesn't go the chef route, I know he will bless his wife with some great meals one day!

Since we've been back we've been kicking into high gear with soccer games, block classes and school work. We are blessed to be in a spirit-filled church. God is doing many new things in our lives, our marriage, our family. We are in the process of laying down a lot of the old and trusting Him to take us into a new season of recognizing and walking in the knowledge of His Sovereignty in our lives. We were reminded as we sat for dinner at Charlie Palmers that night that we are royalty. We are children of the Most High God and He loves us, and longs for us to be simply blessed to be His kids.
